The striking old block of the town hospital was erected in 1861 and is B-listed (LB21978): http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB21978 . Local merchant Alexander Chalmers of Clunie left a bequest of £70,000 (equivalent to about £6 million in 2018) to fund it.
