It was in this cottage of Church Street in Barford where Joseph Arch was born in 1826 and died in 1919. He famous for unionising farmer workers and championing their welfare. He also was a Primitive Methodist preaching and was elected Liberal Party Member of Parliament in 1885-6 and again 1892-1900 for the constituency of North-West Norfolk.
