Two sets of stairs led to below-ground toilets for Ladies and Gentlemen, lit from above by 'Luxcrete' – glass blocks set in concrete panels as paving. This amenity first appears on a map of 1912 as 'Urinal'. Later maps show 'Lav.' and later still 'P.C.' (Public Conveniences). It would have been a busy spot, close to the entrance to the Crystal Palace itself, the high-level railway station, pubs and bus stops. The present bus terminus is seen in the background, along with the TV transmitter. On the left is the top of Farquhar Road. Another view is Image
