This building is presently a privately-run retirement home with nursing facilities. It is a Grade II listed building, on the north side of the road that reflects its name. The building was originally built as "Linton Union Workhouse" in 1836-7, for the Linton Poor Law Union and Symonds Lane used to be known as Union Lane until the mid-twentieth century.
