Former coach house in Carlyle Road

This Victorian building was probably ancillary to the parent house in Fisher Street and would have provided shelter for a small conveyance and stabling for a horse, with a hayloft accessed via the upper door and probably also accommodation for a groom in the upper storey. This would have been in the days before most of the area, part of the rural parish of Chesterton across the river from Cambridge, was built up. Later alterations including the Velux windows have converted it into fully residential use, and new brickwork on the gable end shows that the roofline has been raised from its original level.
