At first, I thought the unusual name of this road was a typo on the map. All the other roads in the area follow a theme of having a -dale suffix to their name, apart from this, and the road opposite named Oxford Violet. Other than the colour link, the names seem to have little else in common: Flanders Red appears to be named after a type of beer.
