The church was much restored by Temple Moore 1898-1901 but has many older parts, the south doorway and the chancel arch date from c1150. Thomas Lamplugh who became Archbishop of York, and died in 1691 was born at Octon in this parish and is commemorated in the church. The former rectory is called Lamplugh House
