Only a single abutment remains as the other has been removed as part of road straightening. The railway was the Great Northern Railway's branch to Leicester Belgrave Road, opened as late as 1882 and closed to local passengers services in 1953. Summer holiday traffic to the east coast resorts survived until 1962. There is a bench mark http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5731729 on the far wing wall.
