The Lowis family built this tower on a rocky knoll on the west bank of the Manor Water in 1500. In 1637, John Lowis sold the tower to Alex Veitch of Neither Horseburgh, from whom it passed to George Baillie of Jerviswood in 1672. From then on it was patched up as a picturesque ruin.
