The footpath heads towards Candlet Road from High Street. The blue sign marks this as private land belonging to the Trimley Estate and exhorts walkers to keep to the public footpath. The Trimley Estate comprises some 3,400 acres - property originally acquired by Trinity College Cambridge in 1933. At the time the value of the investment was seen as agricultural land with some scope for residential development. Most of the land is still agricultural but the most valuable part of the estate is now the port of Felixstowe.
