Given that the main purpose of the A14, which runs from the Catthorpe Interchange where it connects to the M1 and M6, is to provide a route for lorries to and from the port of Felixstowe, it is perhaps odd that only this extremity actually carries the name. Vehicles using this stretch avoid the need to travel through the built-up areas of Felixstowe town and the Trimleys.
