This statue was commissioned for the new shopping street to commemorate The renowned elephant trainer Sam Lockhart who lived in this town for over eighty years. The statues, by sculptor Philippa Downes, depict the most famous of his troupe - Wilhelmina, Haddie and Trilby. Sam is further commemorated in the town by two plaques Image and Image both located on his home in Wilhelmina Close Image
