The public footpath runs along the river 'beach' at this point, so at high tide times (as seen in this photograph), the footpath doesn't exist! The sign at the right hand side of the photograph indicates, quite bluntly, that the top of the bank is not an alternative footpath in such circumstances. This section of the Yorkshire Wolds Way can therefore be deemed to be 'out of bounds' at high tides! Check your tide timetable before using it!
