Midnight Farm

The area around here is known locally as Midnight Corner after this farm which supposedly got its name because it is mostly in shadow due to its location in a short north facing valley. Although I must say the sun was shining on the day the photograph was taken. The Public Bridleway does not go to the farm but heads off to the right. The valley here is known was Ingleby Botton but the Ordnance Surveyors have since mapped it as Greenhow Botton. Botton is an old Scandinavian word for a rounded valley just like this one in fact.
