This view looks across Western Avenue which is at the top of an embankment. Western Avenue here was the original A40 before it was re-routed to the north to pass under Long Lane in a cutting. Western Avenue here is now just a slip road. Freezeland Covert which is seen across the road was to the north of the A40 in the 1960s but is now to the south.
