The old city defences used to run along what is now a simple road - the Portwall - but has become much changed since. The large brick buildings here are of different ages but the main one, now Genting Casino, was formerly a printing works. The architecture retains the frontage of the post-WWI construction; prior to that, there was a Methodist chapel on this site.
