The Mercian Regiment Freedom Parade in Northgate Street, Chester. Soldiers of the 2nd Battalion the Mercian Regiment exercised their right to the Freedom of the City granted by Chester City Council in 2008. The parade commemorated the homecoming of the battalion from recent operational duties in South Sudan, Northern Iraq and the Falkland Islands with a service of Thanksgiving in Chester Cathedral. It is the last time the Mercians will parade in Chester as the battalion is vacating the Dale Barracks in Upton and locating to Cyprus in the summer.
