The Hatchet Inn

This inn, structurally Bristol's oldest, was originally in Frog Lane when the lane was the chief way of driving animals to Clifton when it was an isolated village. It is Grade II listed and dates from the 16th Century. It was noted for its history of sportsmen and a boxing ring was set up there for bare-knuckle prize fighting (see plaque Image) and there was also cock fighting there.
