This is the floor between the stone floor and the cap. The wooden mainshaft dominates the view. The sack hoist chain is on the right and passes through trapdoors on a raised trunking alongside the access staircase. The wooden framing and bracing of the smock mill is clearly visible. The mechanism top right is, I think, the sack hoist.
