Queen Victoria House was acquired by the City Council for its new city centre Customer Service Centre. The Wilson Centre, named after Charles Wilson, the Hull-based Victorian shipping magnate, was opened to the public on 31 January 2011. Centre background, the Guildhall was built 1903-16 as civic offices and law courts, replacing the Town Hall, demolished 1912, and sundry other buildings to the rear.
