This is the "Clacton Queen", a steamroller, built in 1922, which helped to lay out many of Clacton's roads. It is one of only six of its type still existing. The "Clacton Queen" was bought by Tendring District Council in 1995. The initials CQSPS on the roller stand for "Clacton Queen Steam Preservation Society", formed at the same time to preserve the roller. The "Clacton Queen" has been seen regularly at local events, including Clacton Carnival and Clacton Air Show, since 2000. Shops on the north-east side of Pier Avenue can be seen in the background.
