At the end of the High Street where the A701 becomes Academy Street are the Stag Hotel and Moffat Pottery. The latter is run by Gerard Lyons, a former opera singer, who is known as the Singing Potter http://www.alcorne.free-online.co.uk/g_lyon_0.htm
