The Grade 2 listed bridge > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5678222 was built by John Brown and completed in 1856. It is of yellow brick with ashlar dressings and has a single elliptical arch with rusticated piers, an impost band and a dated keystone. The rusticated pilasters on each side carry piers with chamfered caps. The panelled parapet has a chamfered coping. The bridge was used by male asylum patients, while these were still accommodated on Southside, to access the farmland to the north via a driveway crossing over the road. After the construction of the Annexe on Northside in 1880/81, a road lined by lime trees linked both locations. See also > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5678195.
