The splash of green is a Tufnells van. A long truck emblazoned 'fast food' turns into Tavistock Street, probably heading for the Tesco Metro store. A standard paint colour lends uniformity to a street that was developed piecemeal from the early 19th century. Buildings are of brick, originally faced with stucco to simulate stone. Postwar photos show how depressingly grubby many buildings looked after over a century of coal-burning. The view is from the corner of Windsor Street.
