The giant piece of street sculpture standing in front of the old telephone exchange was created to represent the industrial heritage of the world's first and largest industrial estate. It is one of a pair of 56-foot high sculptures named Skyhooks, designed by Brian Fell and installed in 1995, as a metaphor to represent for the regeneration of the old dockland area. The project was funded by the Local Development Council.
