The image shows Grand Court on Grand Parade under construction. Planning permission was approved, with conditions, by Folkestone and Hythe District Council on 14 October 1982 under application number 82/0647/SH for the “erection of 22 flats and 14 garages (as amplified by letter dated 31st August 1982). To its left are Claverley House (now demolished), Littlestone Court and a fragment of Pembroke/Osbourne House. The image also shows the gap in the houses along Marine Parade, which was where the Dormy House Hotel used to be located until it was gutted by a fire between 20 and 27 February 1983 (I wrote, in my diary, that I had been to view the damage on 27 February). The image of Image shows where the Dormy House Hotel used to be located. Its actual location is marked by a pale blue balcony in the next terrace. Oliver Dixon’s image of Image shows where the Dormy House Hotel used to be located – the fawn-coloured section of the terrace – which is now known as 1-19, The Apartments.
