The court building is in Tay Street, facing the river. Designed by London architect Sir Robert Smirke, it was built in 1819. Sheriffs deal with Criminal, Civil and Commissary business. See Scottish Courts web page http://www.scotcourts.gov.uk/locations/index.asp?print=per .
