The convention on British railways has always been that trains pass on the left. With the implementation of bi-directional signalling following the move away from mechanical signalling, this is not now always the case. In this view, for reasons unknown to me, the trains at Nairn station are passing on the right, that nearest the camera heading for Inverness and the approaching train for Aberdeen. No doubt there are good reasons for abandoning the old convention but it can cause confusion for ageing traditionalists such as me!
