Stone/concrete post with single plate attached, by the A1124, in parish of Earls Colne (Braintree District), opposite church (replaces lost post), by stone wall in pavement, on North side of road. Original erected by the Halstead (Div of Essex First Dist) Turnpike Trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : (COLCHESTER / 10 MILES) : : HALSTEAD / 4 MILES : Milestone Society National ID: EX_COHV10R.
