On a map of 1886 this is Stratford on Avon Hospital. Its main entrance was on Alcester Road. To the northwest and north was the large Stratford on Avon Union Workhouse and its even larger garden, probably walled. Over the decades the hospital expanded, took over the workhouse buildings and built on the garden. That is the situation mapped up to 1993. As yet undiscovered are when the original hospital became a hotel, when the Victorian buildings were swept away, when the modern NHS hospital and the private health facility in front of it were built: presumably all related events, both physically and financially.
