The original church was built on the Derbyshire side of the River Meden but following unfavourable comments by the vicar about the marriage of the landowner’s daughter to an older man the building was dismantled and re-erected on the Nottinghamshire side of the river. This act caused the church to be moved from one diocese to another thus removing the errant vicar. The church is a Grade II Listed Building.
