Built 1906, by architects Gorman and Ross in Art Nouveau style. The library was funded from the Carnegie foundation as a free library, as the inscription above the entrance indicates http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5648388 . There is no external reference to the Carnegie Trust, as the commemorative bronze plaque has been removed inside for safe keeping. Listed Grade II.
