One wonders, sometimes, how the crops ever manage to grow in ground as wet as this. I did not realise until I came to upload this shot that somewhere under the mud and water-filled ruts there is a coal mine shaft. It is shown on the first edition of the six-inch map and on the current version of the 1:25,000 map. I just hope it has been well capped and is not about to swallow up an agricultural vehicle.
