The construction of Craigend interchange involved deep rock cutting (greater than 164 ft (50m) deep in places) and particular care had to be taken during blasting operations to protect a 125 year old railway tunnel. This picture shows the east bound carriageway where it passes through one of the deep cuttings. (This information was supplied by Ronnie Land who was involved in the design of Craigend Junction)
