The tree belt ahead surrounds Aberdeen's famous historic deep granite quarry (long since closed, fenced off and disused) at Hill of Rubislaw. A future use for that impressive 'hole in the ground' has been under continuous consideration for decades without as yet any firm commitment to a redevelopment plan as a tourist attraction.
