I'm sure other places of worship would also claim to be God's house, but not uniquely. A plaque set into the brickwork of the 20th century building reads as follows - St James's School Instituted Benevolent School 1790 Sunday School 1801 Reconstructed 1913 Resited and rebuilt 1971
