Planning approval was granted 9 February 2015 for the erection of single-storey extensions to the side and rear of the Blacksmith's Arms public house; also the erection of three dwellings following the demolition of the north wing of the public house. At right, one of the 'iconic' K6 cast-iron telephone kiosks. Designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in 1935, the boxes are without the royal crown and are cream-painted, being unique to the former Hull Corporation Telephone Department.
