Thomas Jakenett formerly a Burgeſs of this town and Agnes his wife founded an Almſhouſe in the reign of Edw. the 4th. 1469, on the South ſide in Gt. St. Mary's Church-Yard, which was taken down in conſequence of an Act of Parliament being granted for Paving and lighting the town of Cambridge, and was rebuilt on this ſpot in the Year 1790 at the joint expence of the Univerſity and the Inhabitants of Gt. St. Mary's Pariſh. The former almshouses at 94 King Street are now a private dwelling. For the context see Nigel Chadwick's Image
