Seen from the footbridge from Clarendon Road. Built in 1836-38 in Gothic Revival style by John Clark at the time when the Clarendon Road/Woodhouse Square area was being developed. Listed Grade II. The church was built on a crypt with 700 recesses for coffins. Part of the crypt was converted in the 1930s as a refuge and advice centre for the unemployed, a function it still provides to this day, with an emphasis on assisting the homeless.
