The new building on the opposite hill-top is Beresford Court, sheltered retirement housing. Its location was formerly that of the Hartley Bottle Works, one of the largest of its kind in England. The only remnants of the works which closed in the 1870s are some glass-slag topped walls which mark the boundary of the old 'city'. http://www.seaton-sluice.btck.co.uk/BottleWorks The building on the left is St Paul's Church, previously the village hall built in 1903 to commemorate Dr John Ochiltree, family physician. It was converted into the present church of St Paul and consecrated in 1961. The former church building was demolished in 1962.
