For the 2017 Lightwaves festival, Quays Culture once again showcased a curated collection of tableaux from the Blackpool Illuminations as they had done in 2016. This year’s tableaux included Star Trek and children’s TV favourites Sooty Sweep and Soo, located next to the tram stop and a fantastical pirate scene located at the Dock 9 waterfront. Each of the works reflect different themes of the MediaCityUK landscape. The Pirate Scene reflects (loosely) the nautical connections of this location which was once Manchester Docks.
