Cast iron post by the A689, in parish of STANHOPE (WEAR VALLEY District), Front Street, by "Sunnyside" East End, at junction with Bondisle Way to station, by the road, on South side of road. Stanhope hands iron casting, erected by the Local Highways Board in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : {hand pointing right} / ST. JOHN'S CHAPEL / 8 / MILES :: WEARDALE / H.D : : {hand pointing left} / WOLSINGHAM / 5 / MILES : Grade II Listed.
