Carved stone post by the A688, in parish of STREATLAM AND STAINTON (TEESDALE District), Stainton Grove, 70m North West of Post Office, opposite bus stop, near telephone box, on South side of road. Bowes stone, erected by the Bowes & Sunderland Bridge turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : BOWES / 6 : : DURHAM / 23 : Grade II Listed.
