Cast iron post by the A6, in parish of WHALEY BRIDGE (HIGH PEAK District), between Newtown and Furness Vale, in tarmac path in front of stone wall, on West side of road. Cast iron CCC1898, erected by the County Council in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : DISLEY / 2 MILES / STOCKPORT 3¾ / MANCHESTER 15 : : CHESHIRE / 1898 / COUNTY COUNCIL : : WHALEY BRIDGE / 2 MILES / BUXTON 9 : Milestone Society National ID: DE_LM168.
