Cast iron post by the A61, in parish of Clay Cross (North East Derbyshire District), North of Clay Cross, on grass verge in front of brick wall, on West side of road. Haywood iron casting, erected by the Duffield & Sheffield turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : CHESTERFIELD / 4 MILES / DRONFIELD / 10 MILES / SHEFFIELD / 16 MILES : : WOODTHORPE : : CLAY CROSS / 1 MILE / DERBY / 12 MILES : Maker:- : J. HAYWOOD JUNᴿ / PHOENIX FOUNDRY / DERBY : NB Possibly destroyed by road works between Nov 2015 and Jun 2016. Milestone Society National ID: DE_DECF19
