Metal plate attached to stone post by the A595, in parish of DISTINGTON (COPELAND District), Common End, near first house and signs to Workington Crematorium; North of Boot Bridge, on grass verge, on West side of road. Whitehaven plate stone, erected by the Whitehaven turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : TO WORKINGTON / 4 / TO COCKERMOUTH / 10 MILES : : {plate missing} (WHITEHAVEN / 4) : Grade II Listed.
