Metal plate attached to stone post by the A7, in parish of CARLISLE (CARLISLE District), Kingstown Road, opposite No. 236, at junction with Parkhouse Road, beside HSBC Bank, on the slip road leading to retail park; back to retaining wall, on West side of road. Carlisle round iron plate, erected by the Kingstown & Westlinton Bridge turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- CARLISLE 2 MILES Carved benchmark and rivet on top. Grade II Listed.
