Metal plate attached to stone post by the A6071, in parish of LONGTOWN (CARLISLE District), South of Smalmstown, West side of railway bridge, behind safety barrier, on North side of road. Carlisle round iron plate, erected by the Longtown, Snab & Haithwaite Bridge turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- CARLISLE 9 MILES Grade II Listed. List Entry Number: 1335642 https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1335642 Milestone Society National ID: CU_CLGA09.
