Metal plate attached to stone post by the A595, in parish of BOLTONS (ALLERDALE District), High Waverbridge, 100m East of road junction to Bolton Gate, Percy Hill, in hedge, on North side of road. Carlisle red stone and curved plate, erected by the Cockermouth & Carlisle turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- CARLISLE 14 MILES WIGTON 4 MILES COCKERMOUTH 11½ MILES Carved benchmark on top. Grade II Listed.
