Cast iron post by the A540, in parish of HOYLAKE (WIRRAL District), South of B5140 roundabout, on the verge back to wall, on East side of road. Cast iron CCC1896, erected by the County Council in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : HESWALL / 3 MILES / GAYTON 3¾ / PARKGATE 6½ / NESTON 6½ / CHESTER 16 : : CHESHIRE / 1896 / COUNTY COUNCIL : : WEST KIRBY / 2 MILES : Maker:- : W H SMITH & CO / MAKER / WHITCHURCH : Milestone Society National ID: CH_WKCH02.
